band score in Speaking and Writing even if I answer the question correctly? <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Please share with me how to go from 5.5 band score to 7.0.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:45px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-1-speaking\"><strong>#1: Speaking<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The Examiner is listening for many things in your IELTS Speaking answers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Unfortunately, it\u2019s not enough to merely answer the question \u201ccorrectly.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Understanding the question and giving an answer isn\u2019t enough to score over band 5.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For each of the scores, you need specific things.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:45px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-ielts-speaking-score-vocabulary\"><strong>IELTS Speaking score: Vocabulary<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>To score 7 or higher on the vocabulary score, you need high-scoring vocabulary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This includes a variety of lexical resources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>slang<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>idioms<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>phrasal verbs<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>topic-specific, less common words<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition, you must avoid repetition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Do not repeat the question or use vocabulary from it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Instead, paraphrase or use synonyms whenever possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rather than repeating yourself, say something new!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Add as much detail as possible and feel free to go on a tangent!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As long as you answer the question, you can add any related information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:45px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-ielts-speaking-score-fluency-and-coherence\"><strong>IELTS Speaking score: Fluency and Coherence<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>To score higher than band 5, you can&#8217;t hesitate a lot or have a lot of pauses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You also need to use a variety of linking phrases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Your answers can&#8217;t be too short. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Aim for 3-5 sentences for Part 1<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Speak for the full 2 minutes for Part 2<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Speak for about a minute for Part 3<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Your answers can&#8217;t be too short. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Add detail and tell stories!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Use experiences from your personal life so you have a lot to say.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:45px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" requires a variety of grammar structures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can satisfy this by using compound and complex sentences as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One mistake students make is focusing too much on the grammar score.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can make a lot of mistakes and still score band 6.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Additionally, it can take up to a year to raise your grammar score a full band point.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It may be better to focus more on improving the other scores if you have a limited amount of time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:45px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-2-writing\"><strong>#2: Writing<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>It&#8217;s also not enough on IELTS Writing to answer the question \u201ccorrectly.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The scoring system requires specific things to be included in your essays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We&#8217;ll break down each score and let you know what the Examiner is looking for.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:45px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-ielts-writing-score-vocabulary\"><strong>IELTS Writing score: Vocabulary<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>You need a variety of high-scoring, less common vocabulary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For General Training Task 1, vocabulary must be informal, semiformal or formal depending on who the letter is being written to.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If it is informal, you will need slang, idioms and phrasal verbs to set a consistent formal tone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For formal letters and Task 2, your vocabulary must be more formal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In every essay, you must avoid vocabulary repetition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Don&#8217;t repeat phrases from the topic in your essay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Instead, paraphrase it or use synonyms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:45px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-ielts-writing-score-cohesion-coherence\"><strong>IELTS Writing score: Cohesion\/Coherence<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>To score 7 or higher, you need a variety of linking phrases in your essays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These help you to smoothly and clearly transition between ideas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Your essay must also be well-organized.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This applies for both Task 1 and Task 2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For Academic Task 1, divide information from charts or graphs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You will then include this information in separate body paragraphs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:45px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-ielts-writing-score-task-response\"><strong>IELTS Writing score: Task Response<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Every idea in your Task 2 essay must be fully supported with details and
