This may be when giving a presentation or while leading a meeting<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Knowing when to pace yourself and buy time to gather your thoughts is crucial at those moments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today’s phrases will fill awkward silences or let your audience know you need more time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

#1: Give me one second<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

This is a very common phrase used to let someone know to wait while you do something or gather your thoughts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Same as the above, you\u2019re articulating that you need time to process something.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

#5: One moment<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Similar to \u2018give me a second\u2019, with this phrase you are asking the person to wait.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You are requesting time to gather your thoughts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Example:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I see your idea. One moment. Yeah! I think it\u2019s a good idea.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Confidence and honesty<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

It is legitimate to let someone know you need more time to think about what to say.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rather than saying the wrong thing, it is best to pause before speaking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It can also show you\u2019re confident and honest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
