I feel like I\u2019m not getting the whole story.<br>The cops said his story doesn\u2019t add up.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:46px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-2-something-is-awry\"><strong>#2: Something is awry<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8216;Awry&#8217; means out of place or askew.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To say something is awry can mean it doesn\u2019t make sense or is away from the expected course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It can also refer to something not being in a correct position or its parts being incomplete or missing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><strong>Example:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Something is awry with these directions. I feel like steps are missing.<br>When I texted and no one responded I could tell something was awry.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:46px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-3-something-is-amiss\"><strong>#3: Something is amiss<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>This means something is not in its right place or is seems off.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>something is off<\/strong>: used to mean something doesn&#8217;t seem quite right<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><strong>Example:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I can\u2019t figure out what the problem is but something is definitely amiss.<br>The inspection is today and they\u2019ll let us know if anything is amiss.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:46px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-roleplay\"><strong>Roleplay<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Here is a quick roleplay from Lindsay and Aubrey using the vocabulary shared in today\u2019s episode.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is a good way to show you how to use these words properly in a conversation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In this scenario, Lindsay is telling Aubrey about a surprise party her friends threw for her.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:46px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><strong>Aubrey:<\/strong> I love that your friends pulled off a surprise party. That\u2019s hard to do! Did you see it coming?<br><strong>Lindsay: <\/strong>Not until I got to the restaurant. I had no clue that anything was amiss.<br><strong>Aubrey:<\/strong> What was your first inkling that something was up?<br><strong>Lindsay:<\/strong> Well, when I showed up and no one else was there I felt like something was awry.<br><strong>Aubrey:<\/strong> I bet.
