Is that right?<\/em><\/p>\n<cite>Sami<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:46px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>This is a great specific question.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can check out similar episodes that will give you more learnings about today\u2019s topic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Go ahead and listen to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.allearsenglish.com\/aee-755-3-steps-deal-angry-native-speakers-english\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>AEE 755: 3 Steps to Deal with Angry Native Speakers in English<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:46px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Angry or frustrated<\/strong>?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>As per the dictionary, \u2018anger\u2019 is a strong feeling of annoyance, displeasure, or hostility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On the other hand, \u2019frustration\u2019 is defined as a feeling of being upset. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It means being annoyed, especially because of the inability to change or achieve something.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is felt by all of us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sami\u2019s distinction is correct that the key difference between the two is the inability to change or achieve something.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Michelle asks Lindsay if she\u2019s always angry when she\u2019s frustrated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lindsay responds that you may think that they are almost the same, but anger sounds more general, and frustration is a little more specific.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here are some examples for you to easily catch the difference between angry and frustrated:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:46px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Example #1:<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><em>I was<strong> frustrated<\/strong> when I lost my phone for the second time.<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>I was <strong>angry <\/strong>when I lost my phone for the second time.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Comparing the two, the word \u2018frustrated\u2019 fits best because in this situation it doesn\u2019t need to be a strong emotion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You could say \u2018angry\u2019 if the problem was caused by someone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:46px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Example #2:<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><em>She was <strong>frustrated<\/strong> when she couldn\u2019t hit the high note, but she worked hard over several weeks, and now she can do it with no problems!<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>She was <strong>angry<\/strong> when she couldn\u2019t hit the high note, but she worked hard over several weeks, and now she can do it with no problems!<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>In this example, you would see that \u2018frustrated\u2019 is better used in this example <a href=\"https:\/\/www.allearsenglish.com\/cs-that-lead-to-success\/\">because of the non-achievement of a goal.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:46px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Example #3:<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><em>I was <strong>frustrated <\/strong>when I stubbed my toe for the second time in a week.<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>I was <strong>angry <\/strong>when I stubbed my toe for the second time in a week.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>You can interchange \u2018angry\u2019 and \u2018frustrated\u2019 in these examples.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Stubbing your toe is very painful and you can really get angry at the pain you feel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:46px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Example #4:<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><em>I was <strong>angry<\/strong> when my boss didn\u2019t think I was the one who did the project.<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>I was <strong>frustrated<\/strong> when my boss didn\u2019t think I was the one who did the project.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>As in the previous examples, \u2018angry\u2019 and \u2018frustrated\u2019 are interchangeable here as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Angry can be an immediate strong emotion that is reasonable to feel in this situation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It can also be frustrating because you are annoyed that it happened.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:46px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Example #5:<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><em>Don\u2019t be <strong>angry<\/strong> if I can\u2019t make it, okay? I told you I might have to work.<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>Don\u2019t be <strong>frustrated <\/strong>if I can\u2019t make it okay?
