follow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ideally, it should start with a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.allearsenglish.com\/band-9-phrases-to-introduce-examples\/\">linking phrase<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This helps you to link it to make your ideas connect naturally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:47px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Why are topic sentences necessary?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Your Cohesion\/Coherence score is all about logic and organization.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Your ideas have to be logical and make sense.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Examiner needs to be able to read the essay from start to finish and know what to expect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These will be different in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.allearsenglish.com\/ielts-energy-1123-how-vocabulary-can-ruin-your-task-achievement-score\/\">Task 1 essays<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are specific steps that need to be taken in order to organize a Task 1 essay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:47px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Step #1: Organize the information<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>You should have everything organized before you start writing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is true for both Task 1 and Task 2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All of the information on the charts or graphs in your Task 1 should be organized into 2 groups.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The first group will be discussed in your first body paragraph.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The second group should be covered in your second body paragraph.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:47px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Make it simple!<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>For example, if the charts show numbers according to gender, divide it into the 2 groups of males and females.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If the information covers popularity for several categories, divide it into most popular and least popular.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With the information divided into 2 groups, it will be clearer to you what to discuss in which paragraph.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This creates clear organization and boosts your Cohesion\/Coherence score.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:47px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>3-step process<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>There are 3 parts to each topic sentence in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.allearsenglish.com\/ielts-energy-1225-avoid-these-ielts-task-1-mistakes\/\">Task 1 essay<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Make each one its own step!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In Task 1, you won\u2019t have a whole topic sentence, but instead will have a topic phrase.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After this phrase, you will introduce the most important number. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><strong>Example #1:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As to the important trends reflected in the numbers for males, they spent the largest proportion of their budget on gardening supplies.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Part 1<\/strong>: Transition phrase: &#8216;As to&#8217;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul
