has nothing to do with which side of the bed you wake up on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Idioms have a separate meaning that you have to learn in order to use them correctly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:46px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>#1: Make your bed <\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>It doesn\u2019t literally mean you build your bed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This means arranging the sheets and blankets on a bed after using it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>make your bed:<\/strong> neatly arrange the sheets, blankets, and bedspread on the bed<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p><strong>Example:<\/strong><br><em>\u201cYou should make your bed after you wake up.\u201d<br>\u201cDon\u2019t forget to make your bed before you leave for school.\u201d<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:46px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>#2: Bed of roses<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The dictionary defines this as \u201can easy, comfortable situation.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You may hear some songs using this differently and refer to this as something intimate. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Don\u2019t get confused as this is really meant to say that something is comfortable and hassle-free.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>bed of roses: <\/strong>an easy comfortable situation<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p><strong>Example:<\/strong><br><em>\u201cWhen he doesn\u2019t get enough sleep, he\u2019s no bed of roses\u201d<br>\u201cIt\u2019s no bed of roses getting home in rush hour traffic.\u201d<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:46px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">#3: <strong>Put something to bed<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>This is used to say you want to end something or come to sort of a resolution and stop. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can use this to address a conversation or issue you no longer want to continue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>put something to bed: <\/strong>find a resolution and stop<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p><strong>Example:<\/strong><br><em>\u201cLet\u2019s finally put this to bed. We can\u2019t afford that house, so let\u2019s forget about it.\u201d<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:46px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>#4: You made your bed, now lie in it <\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>This expression means that you put yourself in the situation so now you have to face the consequences. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This can often be said to a teenager who has made a mess of a situation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They now should fix it or accept the repercussions of their actions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>you made your bed now lie in it:<\/strong> face the consequences of your actions<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p><strong>Example:<\/strong><br><em>\u201cI\u2019m sorry you failed the class but you knew it would happen. You didn\u2019t study and you didn\u2019t do your homework. You made your bed now lie in it.<\/em>&#8220;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:46px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>#5: In bed with<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>This expression may refer to a sexual situation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, it can also be used to show that there is a relationship between people or entities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You would often hear this being used in politics. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>in bed with: <\/strong>associated with something or someone undesirable<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p><strong>Example:<\/strong><br><em>\u201cHe&#8217;s in bed with Big Pharma, so just keep that in mind.\u201d<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:46px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Roleplay<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Lindsay and Michelle share a roleplay to show how to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.allearsenglish.com\/aee-1893-show-empathy-with-this-english-idiom-that-hits-close-to-home\/\">use these idioms in a conversation<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In this scenario, Lindsay and Michelle are classmates. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They are reviewing why they got some negative feedback on a project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:46px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p><strong>Michelle: <\/strong>Well that was no bed of roses, was it?
