Of course you\u2019re invited! <\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:46px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Using the word &#8216;already&#8217;<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>We often use \u2018already\u2019 with the past perfect tense.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Native English speakers add it <a href=\"https:\/\/www.allearsenglish.com\/aee-1819-theres-nothing-better-than-these-english-expressions\/\">to clarify or emphasize<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can also use past perfect in the workplace. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It&#8217;s useful when you need to explain that something went wrong. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Example:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>They had already started before I arrived. <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:46px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Roleplay <\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>In this episode, you heard many ways the past perfect tense can be used in daily conversations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here is a quick roleplay to give you a better understanding of how to use it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In this scenario, Lindsay and Aubrey are co-workers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They are debriefing after a meeting and are expressing how and what went wrong in their meeting. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:46px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p><strong>Aubrey: <\/strong>Oh boy! That did not go well. <\/p><p><strong>Lindsay:<\/strong> If I had known we were presenting today\u2026 <\/p><p><strong>Aubrey: <\/strong>Right? If they hadn\u2019t sprung it on us&#8230; <\/p><p><strong>Lindsay: <\/strong>I tried to ask to postpone but it was too late.
