Just what the doctor ordered! <\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:46px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u201cAn apple a day keeps the doctor away\u201d <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lindsay asks Michelle if she thinks it\u2019s true that if you eat an apple a day, you will be healthy. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Michelle says she doesn\u2019t believe this because apples have a lot of sugar just like most fruits. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The idiom means you want to make healthier diet or lifestyle choices. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lindsay also adds that you can cut idioms in half and shorten them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is often done to this idiom because it is very popular and people would already get what you say.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Example: <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p><strong>Michelle:<\/strong> I really need to improve my diet. <\/p><p><strong>Lindsay: <\/strong>An apple a day keeps the doctor away! <\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:46px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u201cSpin doctor\u201d <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lindsay is reminded of a popular 90&#8217;s band because of this idiom. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The band\u2019s name is Spin Doctor. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The idiom pertains to someone who is presenting something that isn\u2019t true or reverses the truth to something else. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This often is used to refer to politicians. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Example: <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p><strong>Lindsay: <\/strong>He&#8217;s a good speaker.<\/p><p><strong>Michelle: <\/strong>Yeah but I know he&#8217;s a spin doctor. I don&#8217;t trust him. <\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:46px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u201cTo doctor something\u201d <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Michelle mentions that this idiom has nothing to do with a doctor. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This idiom has a negative connotation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lindsay shares that this idiom means that you make an adjustment to make it misleading or false. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is an action you take when you want to fix or cover something and you do it dishonestly. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When you say someone has \u201cdoctored\u201d something, they\u2019ve made a change with malicious intent. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Example: <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p><strong>Michelle: <\/strong>Wait.
