<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:46px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The first example can be just as emphatic as the second example if you put the right stress on the word \u201cterrible.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the second example, where the word \u201cterrible\u201d is lengthened, it makes the sentence sound more expressive and strong. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This would interest the listener to ask what is the reason for having a terrible day. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Michelle mentions it is dramatic and it can be possible to overdo it so you have to be careful about being too over expressive. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:46px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Roleplays <\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Here are some roleplays done by Lindsay and Michelle to give you examples of what they mean to lengthen the pronunciation of words for emphasis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In this scenario, Lindsay just had a new haircut. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:46px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p><strong>Lindsay: <\/strong>What do you think of my new haircut? <\/p><p><strong>Michelle: <\/strong>It looks <strong><em>amaaaaaazing! <\/em><\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:46px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The stretching of the words \u201camazing\u201d gives emphasis to how Michelle appreciates Lindsay\u2019s new haircut. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Comparing this roleplay to the example above shows you that the lengthening of the pronunciation can also work for expressing something in a positive light. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It doesn\u2019t always have to be used for emphasizing negatively. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here is another scenario where Lindsay went out for lunch. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:46px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p><strong>Michelle: <\/strong>Did you have fun today? <\/p><p><strong>Lindsay: <\/strong>Yes! The food was <strong><em>increeeeeedible. <\/em><\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:46px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>This is similar to the first roleplay. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is a good way to express yourself when you feel great about something. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lindsay mentions that with this topic, it would be funny if you try and do this over text. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The spelling looks really weird, but it can be used. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here is the last scenario where Lindsay and Michelle arrive at a party and make a comment about the venue. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:46px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p><strong>Lindsay:<\/strong> Oh no. This is the venue? <\/p><p><strong>Michelle:<\/strong> Yikes.
