She has one friend she texts at night and they would let each other know when they are about to sleep and end the conversation with a \u201cgoodnight.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Michelle also has friends who would just drop the conversation without any warning and it&#8217;s okay because she already knows their style. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There will also be a time that you don\u2019t want to be rude so you make sure you tie a bow on a discussion. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Michelle explains the expression tie a bow on it means to end something properly and to wrap it up in a pleasing way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:46px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Different Styles in Ending A Conversation Via Email <\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Michelle read an interesting article by Caroline Bologna from HuffPost which was published on November 23, 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is entitled <a href=\"http:\/\/When Can You Stop Responding To An Email Exchange.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Wh<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.huffpost.com\/entry\/when-stop-replying-email_l_619bfd74e4b0f398af09184e\">en Can Y<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.huffpost.com\/entry\/when-stop-replying-email_l_619bfd74e4b0f398af09184e\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ou Stop Responding To An Email Exchange.<\/a> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The article discusses how to put an end to the ceaseless back and forth in emails. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When you are with a person, you have many ways to show that you are done. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In person, there are several ways to show a conversation is over such as physical signals and verbally communicating it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:46px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Why This Matters in Business<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Ending a conversation via text may be a bit difficult but it\u2019s even harder by email. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lindsay and Michelle discuss this further in the business setting. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>R.R. Smith, president of Mannersmith Etiquette Consulting, and Barbara Pachter, author of \u201cThe Essentials of Business Etiquette,\u201d has shared their thoughts on the importance of ensuring the communication circle is closed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When you receive an email that doesn\u2019t require a response, often it may seem excessive to reply with a \u201cthis email is received.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Barbara Pachter mentions in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.huffpost.com\/entry\/when-stop-replying-email_l_619bfd74e4b0f398af09184e\">article<\/a> that \u201cyou can stop responding if the person doesn\u2019t need to be thanked, or if you don\u2019t need to let the recipient know you got the email.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But it really depends on your style. Even within the All Ears English team, each one has their own style in responding to emails. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lindsay responds to emails and ensures that the sender knows she received it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Michelle would only reply to emails that need responses. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lindsay has worked with Michelle for a long time and she already knows her style. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She doesn\u2019t get worried if Michelle doesn\u2019t respond to an email where she is just sharing information, like a new idea for a podcast episode. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She knows that her emails get received and read by Michelle. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:46px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>When Do You Know to Stop Replying to An Email? <\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>When exchanging emails, there will be times that you don\u2019t know when to end it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here are some ways how you can know when to end an email based on the article and Lindsay&#8217;s and Michelle&#8217;s ideas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Make Sure The Communication Circle is Closed <\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>You don\u2019t want to sound rude and suddenly cut off the conversation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The article shares that when you receive and email, you can let them know you got it and say thank you. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once the sender receives your response, they wouldn\u2019t need to respond again. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This also goes for you when you send an email and the recipient acknowledges it. R.R. Smith shares \u201cIt is not about having the last word. It is about completing the communication circle by making sure the real and relevant information has been received.
