class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n<h3 id=\"h-cynthia-s-test-day-roadblock\"><strong>Cynthia\u2019s test day roadblock<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>She lives close to the testing center, but not close enough to walk.<\/p>\n<p>Traffic is very congested in that area, so she didn\u2019t want to risk possible delays by driving.<\/p>\n<p>Therefore, she decided to ride her bike to the testing center.<\/p>\n<p>When she arrived, she was told she could not leave her bike there and they would not allow her to enter the building.<\/p>\n<p>She was told she needed special permission in writing to park her bike anywhere.<\/p>\n<p>It took a great deal of time to get permission, and the staff at the test center was not helpful!<\/p>\n<div style=\"height:46px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n<h3 id=\"h-how-did-this-affect-her-performance\"><strong>How did this affect her performance?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>It was a very stressful and upsetting experience.<\/p>\n<p>It wasn\u2019t resolved until right before the test began, and she was the last one in her seat.<\/p>\n<p>She definitely recognized that she was thrown off when the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.allearsenglish.com\/ielts\/ielts-energy-938-classic-ielts-tricks-on-every-listening-exam\/\">Listening exam<\/a> began.<\/p>\n<p>The first questions were a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.allearsenglish.com\/ielts\/ielts-energy-940-how-to-make-ielts-listening-map-questions-easy\/\">map completion<\/a>, and she had a hard time focusing and missed the first few answers.<\/p>\n<div style=\"height:46px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n<h3 id=\"h-why-cynthia-scored-8-5-on-listening\"><strong>Why Cynthia scored 8.5 on Listening<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>In spite of this very unexpected and difficult experience, she still scored 8.5 on Listening!<\/p>\n<p>This is extremely commendable!<\/p>\n<p>She was able to focus back in and performed impressively on this section.<\/p>\n<p>This is because she had strategies!<\/p>\n<p>Through the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.allearsenglish.com\/keys\">3 Keys IELTS anti-anxiety module<\/a>, she learned how to \u201cfind her zen.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She was able to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.allearsenglish.com\/ielts\/ielts-energy-769-native-ielts-phrases-speaking-anxiety\/\">recognize the anxiety and use it to focus and succeed<\/a>.<\/p>\n<div style=\"height:46px\" href=\"https:\/\/www.allearsenglish.com\/ielts\/ielts-energy-257-dos-donts-ielts-listening-test\/\">the importance of listening to the instructions.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>In these, you hear who will be talking and what it will be about.<\/p>\n<p>She recognized that on exams, she was often jumping ahead and reading questions without listening to instructions.<\/p>\n<p>You must be present from the
