Why is it so hard to understand native English pronunciation?<\/p>\n

Today we\u2019ll show you how native English speakers drop the final consonant of their words.<\/p>\n

We\u2019ll also show you how you can train your brain to be ready for this.<\/p>\n

During Lindsay\u2019s cross-country trip in the summer of 2016 she interviewed a teenager in Michigan.<\/p>\n

They talked about a lot of things like the city of Detroit, gun laws in the United States, and more.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

How does this lesson help you?<\/strong><\/p>\n

The way that Rae talks in the interview is kind of \u201ccool\u201d and without much emphasis on her words.<\/p>\n

She talked in a way that nothing was a big deal to her without using any intonation.<\/p>\n

A lot of young people and teenagers use this lack of intonation.<\/p>\n

Rae also dropped the final consonant in her words in the video interview.<\/p>\n

This is something that not just teenagers do, but a lot of native speakers of all ages do this.<\/p>\n

In our course<\/a> we use this interview to help you practice listening to natives when they drop the final consonant of their words.<\/p>\n

For example, in the video you hear the words \u201cjust don\u2019t know\u201d and it\u2019s pronounced by dropping the T in \u201cjust\u201d and the T in \u201cdon\u2019t\u201d so that all of the words get squished together.<\/p>\n
