Can I use the anaphora \u2018there\/themselves\u2019 as a gender neutral\u00a0term when referring to \u2018one\u2019 when writing, because I remember that it is possible to use this collective pronoun as an anaphora for a singular\u00a0subject such as \u2018him\u2019 or \u2018her.\u2019\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

For example: When making a decision, one should bear in mind the potential consequences of their actions.\u00a0<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

There has been much debate<\/strong> about using the plural \u2018they\u2019 and \u2018their\u2019 to refer to singular nouns. In fact, if we do not know the gender<\/strong> of the noun, then, yes, you can use the plural pronoun<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Using the formal pronoun \u2018one<\/strong>\u2018 is fantastic- very high-level<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Also, never<\/strong> use the pronoun \u2018you\u2019 in your Academic writing<\/a>.<\/p>\n
