I reckon sometimes it might be pretty confusing, especially, if you hear “sometimes you make me blue” in Alicia Keys’ song, and you don’t know what that is. 5 great color idioms:<\/b><\/p>\n

1- \u201cUntil you\u2019re blue in the face\u201d:<\/strong> \u00a0To do something until you are exhausted. This usually means that you did not have success. <\/span>Example: “You can try to convince me until you\u2019re blue in the face but I will never believe you.”<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

2- “A grey area”:<\/strong> A space that is not clear or is not well defined where something could go either way. E<\/span>xample: it\u2019s not clear whose fault the accident was. There\u2019s kind of a grey area when it comes to the damages to both cars. <\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

3- “A red flag”:<\/strong> A warning or a sign that this is not a good choice. This comes up a lot in dating. \u00a0E<\/span>xample: “On our first date I asked the guy if he was close to his family and he said he hadn\u2019t talked to them in 10 years.<\/span><\/i> That was a red flag\u00a0<\/span><\/em>for me.”<\/em>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

4- “A golden opportunity”:<\/strong> An amazing chance to do something that you might never get again. \u00a0Example:<\/span>\u00a0“Getting a chance to go on that business trip to Paris was a golden opportunity because I met a ton of people in my field.”<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n
