Definitions and Differences<\/strong><\/p>\n

Let\u2019s start by breaking down and understanding the different ways that \u201ccold\u201d and \u201ccool\u201d may be used.<\/p>\n

  1. Temperature<\/em>: The temperature outside or of food are the most common. You would be most likely to hear cold used hear, but cool can be appropriate as well.<\/span>\n
      \n
    1. Cold: This is likely to be something that somebody says if it\u2019s really cold, like in the winter time. It can also indicate that the food is cold, usually not in a positive way.\n
        \n
      1. \u201cI just can\u2019t take the cold and the snow of wintertime.\u201d<\/li>\n
      2. \u201cMy soup is cold, so I need to send it back.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n
      3. Cool: This usually means it\u2019s not quite as cold, so it\u2019s a bit chilly or not as warm as it was perhaps earlier in the day. It\u2019s a more moderate level of temperature, in both weather and temperature of something like food. It may not indicate something as negative or severe.\n

        1. \u201cIt\u2019s a little cool outside, you may want to grab a jacket for this evening.\u201d<\/li>\n
        2. \u201cThis pasta isn\u2019t hot, it seems to have cooled down a bit.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

          1. Personality or Situation: <\/span><\/em>Something is really enjoyable or positive in nature. This describes something that makes you happy or appeals to you in some way. <\/span>\n

            1. Cool: It\u2019s usually used to describe somebody that you like being around, or something that you enjoy.\n

              1. \u201cI really like him, he\u2019s such a cool guy and so much fun to be around.\u201d<\/li>\n
              2. \u201cThat book was cool, I read it so fast because I enjoyed it so much.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n
              3. Cold: This usually means that the person is kind of standoffish, uncomfortable, or not very nice. For an environment or situation, it can mean that things are a bit stark and lacking any personality.\n

                1. \u201cI don\u2019t feel good around her, she\u2019s so cold and I don\u2019t know how to read her.\u201d<\/li>\n
