Transition phrases are necessary<\/a> for your Cohesion Coherence<\/strong> scores, in letters<\/strong>, essays <\/strong>and speaking <\/strong>answers.<\/p>\n

Recently, we had a question about using \u2018anyway<\/em><\/strong>\u2018 in IELTS Writing.<\/p>\n

Our student wanted to know if it was appropriate <\/strong>for General Training Writing Task 1<\/a>, if it\u2019s informal<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

We use \u2018anyway<\/em><\/strong>\u2018 a lot, informally<\/strong>, to move on to another point<\/strong> or idea.<\/p>\n

Another informal <\/strong>word to move on is \u2018anyhow<\/em><\/strong>\u2018.<\/p>\n

A funnier, rare <\/strong>one, is \u2018anywho<\/em><\/strong>\u2018. It is very informal<\/strong>! However, it\u2019s uncommon <\/strong>and interesting, so it\u2019s great for informal letters<\/strong> and Speaking Parts 1 and 2<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

That word is great <\/strong>for bringing yourself back to the topic in Speaking Part 2<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Now, for formal <\/strong>communication in Writing Task 2<\/a> and Speaking Part 3<\/a>, you can use \u2018regardless<\/em><\/strong>\u2018.<\/p>\n

This is useful if you\u2019ve wandered <\/strong>a bit and want to come back to the topic, or you want to provide another side<\/strong> or opinion.<\/p>\n

Another great way to introduce a new point<\/strong> or topic is \u2018as to<\/em><\/strong>\u2018, especially in topic sentences of body paragraphs<\/a>.<\/p>\n
