It may also mean that you are just very into something and feel so passionate about it that it\u2019s almost like it\u2019s in your blood. You might say something like \u201cMy mother is a teacher and so was my grandmother, so it\u2019s in my blood.\u201d Another way to use this could be \u201cExercising every day is in my blood.\u201d <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><em>I bleed X and Y<\/em><\/strong>: This is often used to talk about school spirit. This is stating your ultimate commitment or loyalty to a team or organization of some type. You could say \u201cI love my team. Seriously, I bleed blue and silver.\u201d -Bad blood: This is talking about something bad between people, which tends to make them like enemies. There may have been a fight or disagreement of some type, and so there is now bad blood or a wedge between these people. You might hear \u201cI heard there\u2019s been some bad blood between them ever since she quit his team project.\u201d <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><em>New blood<\/em><\/strong>: This is something we use to talk about in politics a lot. It means that something is very new or fresh, and it is often used to talk about a person who may be new to the political scene. It\u2019s like talking about somebody with no real experience. You could say \u201cWe need some new blood to get the party moving forward.\u201d You may use it in a positive way such as to say \u201cOh wow, a new intern. It\u2019s good to have some new blood around here.\u201d <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Why do you think we use blood so much? <\/p>\n<p>You can see that these phrases use the word quite frequently, but they are not related at all. <\/p>\n<p>You can try any of these out in your conversations, and you will quickly see just how common they can be. <\/p>\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n<h3><strong>Roleplay To Help<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>In this roleplay, Lindsay and Michelle are in the office talking about work. <\/p>\n<p>Lindsay: \u201cHave you met the new assistant?\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Michelle: \u201cNo! Oooo new blood. Is she nice?\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Lindsay: \u201cYeah, I like her. I mean, she likes my sports team, so I think she\u2019s great. You know I bleed purple and orange. \u201c <\/p>\n<p>Michelle: \u201cHaha, of course. It\u2019s good we don\u2019t have any more bad blood around here now that Paul left.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Lindsay: \u201cReally. He brought the place down. I think this new assistant will bring up the morale around here.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Michelle: \u201cOh yeah. So your sister is in to shadow you today, right?\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Lindsay: \u201cYeah! What can I say?
