href=\"https:\/\/www.allearsenglish.com\/ielts\/ielts-video-task-2-can-you-agree-with-both-sides\/\">IELTS Task 2 topic<\/a> asks your opinion about whether collaboration or competition is more effective.<\/p>\n<p>This might be about children working together or adults.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Collaboration<\/strong>: working together IELTS<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>You want to sound more like a student and less like a native!<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s vital that you use&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.allearsenglish.com\/ielts\/ielts-energy-413-avoid-speaking-6-informal-fillers\/\">informal fillers<\/a>&nbsp;like natives do.<\/p>\n<p>These increase your&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.allearsenglish.com\/ielts\/ielts-energy-955-why-does-ielts-only-give-you-overall-band-scores\/\">Fluency and Coherence scores.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>You also need to use&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.allearsenglish.com\/ielts\/ielts-energy-1017-vocabulary-for-a-massive-surge-of-ielts-scores\/\">high level vocabulary<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Don\u2019t start Part 2 with a couple of boring sentences before providing any Band 7+ vocab.<\/p>\n<p>Pull out high level vocabulary right away and impress the Examiner!<\/p>\n<div style=\"height:46px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n<h3><strong>Varied intonation is a must!<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>You must have a variety of intonation for a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.allearsenglish.com\/ielts\/ielts-energy-772-notice-ponder-practice-for-improved-ielts-pronunciation-scores\/\">7 or higher on Pronunciation<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Also, you need to be ready to use informal vocabulary and tone.<\/p>\n<p>This will get you that variety you need for Pronunciation and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.allearsenglish.com\/ielts\/ielts-energy-719-joy-band-9-ielts-vocabulary-scores\/\">Vocabulary scores.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Notice the difference in our intonation on these sample answers.<\/p>\n<p>We don\u2019t sound the same when we describe our bedroom and when we talk about more serious topics like taxes.<\/p>\n<div style=\"height:46px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n<h3><strong>No Speaking time limit<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Students have informed us that tutors told them their answers should be very short.<\/p>\n<p>One tutor incorrectly informed our student that there is a time limit for&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.allearsenglish.com\/ielts\/ielts-energy-693-casual-ielts-speaking-part-1\/\">Speaking Part 1 questions.<\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>The truth<\/strong>: You can indeed speak for more than 20 seconds in Speaking Part 1.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Examiner does not time individual answers.<\/p>\n<p>Do not be concerned about the length of time of your answers.<\/p>\n<p>Instead, focus your attention on the content of your answers.<\/p>\n<p>If you have spoken too long and they need to ask another question, the Examiner will stop you.<\/p>\n<p>This is no way affects your score.<\/p>\n<p>In fact,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.allearsenglish.com\/ielts\/ielts-energy-724-fluent-speaking-part-2\/\">it shows you are very fluent<\/a>&nbsp;and could speak even longer!<\/p>\n<div style=\"height:46px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n<h3><strong>Use hand gestures<\/strong>&nbsp;and facial expressions!<\/h3>\n<p>One of our students was told that he should not use&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.allearsenglish.com\/ielts\/nonverbal-habits-high-scoring-speaking-candidates\/\">hand gestures<\/a>&nbsp;during the Speaking exam.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>The truth<\/strong>: You should use your hands if it helps you feel more relaxed and natural.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Using hand gestures in no way affects your score.<\/p>\n<p>The Examiner does not pay attention to them at all.<\/p>\n<p>In fact, if you try to keep yourself from using hand gestures, it could make it more difficult for you to speak.<\/p>\n<p>This could actually affect your score negatively.<\/p>\n<div style=\"height:46px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n<h3><strong>Takeaway<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>There is a good chance you\u2019ll be asked about being part of a club or team on&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.allearsenglish.com\/ielts\/ielts-energy-1018-how-fumikas-speaking-score-jumped-from-5-to-7\/\">IELTS Speaking.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Practice answering these questions with at least 2-3 sentences.<\/p>\n<p>Provide details!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.allearsenglish.com\/aee-476-things-can-tone-voice-never-imagined\/\">Vary your intonation<\/a>&nbsp;and avoid speaking
